Overview of Position:

LifeWire’s DEI Manager leads efforts across LifeWire to ensure our commitments around diversity, equity, inclusion and racial justice are upheld in how staff interacts with each other and with the communities we serve. The DEI Manager will facilitate, measure, and build upon the initiatives that support and grow our organizational culture. This position creates a safe and inclusive work environment and helps LifeWire continue its growth as an organization that reflects the diversity of the communities and peoples we serve. In partnership with the Community Advocacy team, this role also engages in external-facing engagements to support LifeWire’s commitments to racial equity through support and collaboration with other agencies, organizations, and services in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sustain and further develop the programs and initiatives that facilitate LifeWire’s culture development, including but not limited to those focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, racial justice, and underserved populations.
  • Manage and communicate the progress of DEI initiatives and objectives; contribute to strategic DEI direction with active coordination and planning of events and projects.
  • Facilitate and coordinate with the Racial Equity Change Team (staff) and the Racial Equity Partnership (board and staff).
  • Track and report metrics that will measure the effectiveness of LifeWire’s DEI initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership, staff, and board to build a welcoming and inclusive culture for all.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to apply a racial equity lens to operations and services, policies, recruitment, staff retention, planning strategies, employee experience, culture, etc.
  • Represent LifeWire in community meetings as a strong, professional leader.
  • Foster a work environment of trustworthiness, clear communication, and trauma responsiveness.
  • Maintain organized shared spaces and personal work environment.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned in support of LifeWire’s mission.

Qualifications:

  • Three or more years experience in crisis intervention and domestic violence advocacy preferred.
  • MSW, or related degree and equivalent experience, or significant related experience desired.
  • Supervisory and/or program management experience preferred.
  • Multilingual/cultural proficiency preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrated creative problem solving, and thoughtfulness in stressful situations.
  • Experience, skill and willingness to work with a culturally diverse team and participants.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to create strong teams, and work as a part of one.
  • Meet LifeWire background check requirements.
  • Access to reliable transportation and valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Demonstrated skill working independently and as part of a team to deliver services.
  • Attend work regularly, including scheduled work time outside of typical office hours.
